New Building

After a meeting with my tutor I realised that picking the most horrible building around for my site wasn't the best plan because, although it gives me a totally blank canvas to work with it also means there is only a certain amount of potential to be drawn out and I feel I still wouldn't be totally happy with the result in the end.
For this reason I have picked a new building, one with a lot more potential. It is between Vauxhall and Kennington in London. Here it is:

I will do further site analysis and draw up more detailed plans based on the ones provided, then I can get to work on the beginnings of the design!

Design Proposal

I have been working on my design proposal sheet. This is it so far, I've included a zoning map with possible journeys that employees might take through the building.

A2 boards - Project Introduction and Building Analysis

I've been working on my A2 boards in preparation for peer assessment next week. These two (work in progress) show an introduction to my project (including 2 case studies) and building analysis.
Next I will be working on a project proposal sheet showing how my design ideas could be used in the context of this building.

Site

I picked a site for my project, it is in an industrial state in Ware, Hertforshire. The image is my site context A2 board (this is why the writing looks so small on the screen).

colour sofa

another idea using coloured film for the lower half of the glass and plain glass for the upper half. This way natural light can enter into the space but people sitting close to the window will be bathed in colour.

colour desks

Using my previous idea of a coloured film on a roller system I came up with this design for individually controlling the colour of light in each workspace.

The blue light shown is natural light which would be directed deep into the interior of the building using Parans Solar Lighting meaning that even deep plan offices can have naturally lit spaces in the centre.
